    Smoky BBQ Sauce

    Tips & Tricks:

    • 🔪 Sauce can be made and refrigerated up to 4 days ahead.

    Ingredients:

    • 1/2 tbsp vegetable oil
    • 1/2 onion, chopped fine
    • salt and pepper to taste
    • 1 garlic clove, minced
    • 1/2 tsp chili powder
    • 1 tsp paprika
    • 3/4 cup ketchup
    • 1/2 tsp liquid smoke
    • 3 tbsp molasses
    • 1 1/2 tbsp apple cider vinegar
    • 1 tbsp worcestershire sauce
    • 1 tbsp dijon mustard

    Directions:

    1. Heat oil in medium saucepan over medium heat until shimmering.
    2. Add onion and pinch of salt and cook until onion is softened, about 5 minutes.
    3. Stir in garlic, chili powder, and paprika and cook until fragrant, about 30 seconds.
    4. Whisk in ketchup, molasses, vinegar, Worcestershire, mustard, and liquid smoke.
    5. Bring sauce to a simmer and cook, stirring occasionally, until thickened and reduced to about 1 cup, about 25 minutes.
    6. Taste and season with salt and pepper to taste.
