Condensed Cream of Chicken Soup

Ingredients:

  • 1.5 tbls salted butter (or DF butter substitute)
  • 1.5 tbls all-purpose flour (or GF flour substitute)
  • 1/4 cup chicken broth
  • 1/4 cup milk (or DF milk substitute, preferably one with neutral flavor)
  • 1/4 tsp garlic powder
  • 1/8 tsp salt
  • 1/8 tsp black pepper

Directions:

  1. In a small sauce pan, melt butter and add the flour to the pan, and whisk together to make a roux. Stir constantly for about 2 minutes.
  2. Add the broth and milk, and whisk together to breakup any lumps.
  3. Stir in garlic powder, salt and pepper.
  4. Bring to a simmer and continue cooking until mixture thickens, about 3 minutes.
  5. Remove from heat and use right away.
