Tips & Tricks:
- 🔪 Sauce can be made and refrigerated up to 4 days ahead.
Ingredients:
- 1/2 tbsp vegetable oil
- 1/2 onion, chopped fine
- salt and pepper to taste
- 1 garlic clove, minced
- 1/2 tsp chili powder
- 1 tsp paprika
- 3/4 cup ketchup
- 1/2 tsp liquid smoke
- 3 tbsp molasses
- 1 1/2 tbsp apple cider vinegar
- 1 tbsp worcestershire sauce
- 1 tbsp dijon mustard
Directions:
- Heat oil in medium saucepan over medium heat until shimmering.
- Add onion and pinch of salt and cook until onion is softened, about 5 minutes.
- Stir in garlic, chili powder, and paprika and cook until fragrant, about 30 seconds.
- Whisk in ketchup, molasses, vinegar, Worcestershire, mustard, and liquid smoke.
- Bring sauce to a simmer and cook, stirring occasionally, until thickened and reduced to about 1 cup, about 25 minutes.
- Taste and season with salt and pepper to taste.
