Hi my name is Casi. Welcome to my kitchen! So you want to know more about me? Let’s go back to 2014 when I was 29 years old and working in marketing for an online beauty startup. I was laid off, and did the whole job search thing for another job in marketing for months. One day in December, I woke up and offhandedly through out to my husband “What do you think about me going to culinary school?” His response, “Do it.” So in January 2015 I started my journey to becoming a chef.
I started a culinary program in Long Beach, California. It was going smoothly, but oh so slow! Hello! I just made a huge life change. Can we get to the good part! So I went searching for a job in a real life restaurant kitchen. I was open to any position in back of house…I mean, with zero experience I had to be! I was lucky enough to be offered a stage (pronounced staj, in French) in a new restaurant opening in a couple weeks. I guess I decently impressed the head Chef so I was invited to become a line cook after that first day! I couldn’t believe it.
I worked in that kitchen in every position, dish washer, salads, desserts, saute, grill, fry, pizza, and expeditor. I learned so much! Fast forward, after a year of exhaustive hands-on learning, my husband and I decided to move to Boulder, CO. I was on my own. No longer a student, I was ready to teach and be the head chef of my own kitchen. I’ve taught cooking classes, done private dinner parties, catering, and meal preparation for families from 2016 until today.
Today is the newest version of Casi’s Kitchen. Where I share my head chef skills with you, my sous chefs. I do the hard part of creating meal plans, recipes, shopping lists, prep ideas, and all the tips and tricks you’ll need to know to be the boss of your kitchen. And all you have to do is cook!
